Alyson Greenfield: News
The Deli Magazine! - November 12, 2008
The Deli Magazine (an NYC magazine I love) is featuring me on the front page of their website today! The text of the article is below:
Welcome to NYC: Alyson Greenfield
Alyson Greenfield, recently transplanted from AL to Brooklyn, has just released her first full-length album entitled "Tuscaloosa" - name of the town she left in Alabama. Recorded with Denise Barbarita (David Byrne, Mary J Blige, Herbie Hancock), the album features Jason Mercer (Ani DiFranco, Ron Sexsmith) on bass and Geoff Hug (NYC Smoke) on drums. Alyson's music combines passionate piano, gutsy guitar, dreamy electronics, and often bold and feminist lyrics. The Deli welcomes Alyson to the NYC music scene. To check out this spunky, multi-genre performer, head to keep checking her myspace page for upcoming shows.

Awesome Review in La Zine! - September 23, 2008
Jim Sutherland of England's La Zine just wrote an awesome review of "Tuscaloosa!"
Here's an excerpt:
"eloquent examples of lyrical buoyancy and sensibility; minimalist serenity, serio-comic sensationalism, luminous production, spiky observation, roots rhythms; fresh melodies of substance, which are occupied by a grounded, rounded and articulate voice; take all of this into account and you will almost certainly get an idea of what this album conveys... a genuine and thoroughly engrossing piece of artistry that smacks of good things to come."

Compared to The Simpsons! - August 24, 2008
Toronto, Canada's Big Rock Finish had some fun things to say about "Tuscaloosa":
"The strangest thing is her songs remind me of how The Simpsons are written. How… the beginning of a song and the end to a song sound completely different, and only in hearing the whole thing at once will you be convinced it’s the same song....I can think of a pretty wide collection of friends of mine who would really love to give a listen...I’m thinking of the people who are a little bit hippy-ish, and those who always have had a penchant for all things 'on the strange side of normal.'"

The album was recorded by Denise Barbarita (Mary J Blige, David Byrne, The Roots) and myself, and features Jason Mercer (Ani DiFranco, Ron Sexsmith) on bass. I can't wait for you to hear the CD! Tour! - June 15, 2008
The tour so far has been great! I have met so many wonderful people along the way who have been so gracious to house me and show me a great time! Some of the highlights of my tour so far include being serenaded by a barber shop quartet, floating down the French Broad River in an inner-tube, , and staying both on a beautiful farm and in the loft of a Victorian house!

Six Songs Wins at Women's Radio Music Review Awards 2007 - January 4, 2008
Six Songs came in 3rd place at the Women's Radio Music Review Awards 2007 in the Classical/Contemporary category! I feel very honored to come in right after Eliza Lumley's "She Talks in Maths" and Elise Lebec's "Possible Dreams." These women have extensive resumes-- Eliza's album has 10 covers of Radiohead songs, has been played on the BBC a whole bunch, and she composed songs for the Broadway Musical Mamma Mia. Elise has played with Imogen Heap and has worked with Barbara Streisand and Celine Dion's composer! I haven't worked with any of these people, but I do love to play the piano and I'm so glad the people at Women's Radio were tuning in to that! Thanks Women's Radio!
